Parents & child safety

Looplet is for sharing photos with a handful of people you already know: a partner, family, close friends. Here is what your teen can and can't do, and the controls that keep it small and private.

What Looplet is

Each small group is called a Loop. The newest photo in a Loop shows on the Home Screen of everyone in it, through a widget. People react with an emoji, a short voice reply, or a message.

There is no public feed, no follower count, no likes to chase and no way to browse strangers.

Who can see your teen's photos

  • Only the Loops they choose. Before sending, they pick the Loops a photo goes to. Nobody outside those Loops sees it.
  • No public profile. A person can't be searched for or followed. Joining a Loop takes an invite link or a 6-character code from someone already in it.
  • Small groups. Each Loop has a member limit, and a couple Loop holds exactly two people.
  • The owner decides who stays. Whoever made a Loop can remove anyone from it, and anyone can leave a Loop at any time.
Talk with your teen about invite links: anyone who has the link can ask to join until the Loop is full, so it's best shared only with people they know in person.

Messages

  • Your teen can only message people they share a Loop with. Strangers can't send them messages.
  • Blocking someone stops messages both ways.
  • A message can be unsent for both people within 15 minutes, and any message or chat can be deleted on their side.
  • "Typing" and "Seen" can be turned off in the app, under Me.

Safety tools

  • Age. Looplet is for people 13 and older. We ask for a birth date at sign-up and don't let younger people create an account.
  • Report and block. Every photo, message and person can be reported from the app. A person on our team reviews reports, and accounts that break our Terms are suspended.
  • Sensitive images are blurred. When Communication Safety or Sensitive Content Warnings are on in iPhone Settings, Looplet uses Apple's on-device detection to blur nude images before they are seen. The photo never leaves the phone to be checked. (Communication Safety is on by default for children in an Apple Family Sharing group.)
  • Contacts stay on the phone. Looplet can use contacts to help pick people to invite, but never uploads them.
  • Memories stay on the phone. The Memories calendar is built from the photo library on the device; nothing is uploaded unless your teen sends it.

Their account

  • An account can be deleted at any time in the app (Me → Delete account), or by email; see Delete your account.
  • Our Privacy Policy explains what we store and why. We don't show ads and don't sell data.

Our child safety standards

Looplet has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Sharing, requesting or linking to such material, sexualizing a minor, grooming and sextortion are banned. Every child safety report is reviewed by a person with priority; offending content is removed, the account is permanently banned, and apparent abuse material is reported to NCMEC and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

The full standards, including how to report and what we do, are on Child safety standards.

If something goes wrong

Report it in the app, then block the person. For anything involving the abuse or exploitation of a child, see our Child safety standards, which explain how to report it and what we do. If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first.
